Can you support BEACON’s Hosting Project?

Over the past 9 years our small volunteer-led Hosting Project has accommodated more than 60 destitute asylum seekers in the homes of our wonderful volunteer host households in Bradford. At least a third of our guests have gone on to be granted Leave to Remain in the UK. Without our support, these people would be left street homeless in the UK or forced to return to the desperate situations from which they have been forced to flee.

The demand for the Hosting Project is however significantly greater than our capacity to respond.

We are therefore looking for one (or possibly two) people who would be able to volunteer 5-10 hours a week to assist our Project Coordinator to recruit, train and support more hosts. The nature of the project requires some flexibility, including some early evenings.

We are seeking an inspired individual who:

  • Has a genuine desire to make a real difference
  • Has some experience of voluntary or paid work with asylum seekers or refugees
  • Has good spoken and written English
  • Is IT literate and has access to a computer with internet

Travel and other expenses associated with the role will be reimbursed.
